GB/T 3884.1-2012 Methods for chemical analysis of copper concentrates - Part 1: Determination of copper content - Iodine titration method (English Version)
1 Scope
This Part of GB/T 3884 specified the methods for determination of copper content in copper concentrate: long iodometric method (Method 1) and short iodometric method (Method 2), hereinafter referred to as Method 1 and Method 2.
This Part is applicable to the determination of copper content in copper concentrate. The determination range is: 13.00%~ 50.00%.
2 Method Summary
2.1 Method 1
Decompose the specimen with hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, and sulfuric acid, add sodium thiosulfate solution into dilute sulphuric acid solution to make copper ion separated from the solution in cupric sulfide state. Dissolve the precipitation with mixed acid, adjust the pH value of solution to 3.0 ~ 4.0, shelter the iron with ammonium bifluoride, add potassium iodide to react with divalent copper; the precipitated iodine takes starch as indicator and titrates with standard volumetric solution of sodium thiosulfate. For the filtered solution after copper, atomic absorption spectrometry method is adopted to determine copper content.
