This document specifies the terms and definitions of wedges, including three angle series (120~0"30 ') and one slope series (1∶10~1∶500). This document is applicable to general mechanical engineering.

The following terms and definitions apply to this document.
three point one
Wedge
The geometry defined by a pair of intersecting planes and a certain dimension. Note 1: Wedge is the dimension key defined by angular dimension.

Wedge angle3
The wedge angle dimension defined in the plane that is re straight to the wedge edge.

Wedge slopes
The ratio of the difference between the heights H and h of two designated wedge sections relative to any wedge plane and the projection distance L between them.

Wedge ratio
2 times the half angle tangent value of the wedge angle.

Wedge edge
A line formed by the intersection of wedge planes.

4 Wedge series
Table 1 shows the nominal values of wedge angle and wedge slope for general use, the corresponding wedge ratio and the calculated wedge slope. When selecting wedge angle, series 1 shall be preferred, followed by series 2, to reduce the number of tools, gauges and measuring instruments required in the production process of workpieces with wedge characteristics.
Appendix A (Informative) Relationship with GPS Matrix Model
A. 1 General
For complete details of the GPS matrix model, see ISO 14638.
The GPS matrix model in ISO 14638 provides an overview of the GPS system, and this document is a part of this system. Unless otherwise stated, the basic GPS rules given in ISO 8015 are applicable to this document, and the default rules given in ISO 14253-1 are applicable to the specifications developed in accordance with this document.
A. 2. Information about standards and their use
This document covers the definition of wedge parameters and corresponding values for several applications. It should be completed by standards that include element features, measurement, measuring equipment and calibration, so as to obtain a clear understanding.
A. 3 Position in GPS matrix model
This document is a general GPS standard. The rules and principles given in this document apply to all parts of the GPS matrix marked with solid points (•). See Table A.1.
