Candles - Specification for fire safety
1 Scope
This document specifies the fire safety requirements for candle burning and describes the test methods for verifying that candles meet the safety requirements.
This document is applicable to the analysis, prevention and quantitative assessment of the fire risk related to candle products during the design, production, inspection and use of such products.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 42386 and the following apply.
3.1
secondary ignition
unintended self-sustained flame that occurs from the moment a candle is lit until it is extinguished
Note: Includes candle flashover.
3.2
flame height
vertical distance from bottom to top of a flame (see Figure 1)

3.3
afterglow
amount of time that the tip of the wick continues smoking noticeably after a candle is extinguished
3.4
tea light
candle that burns chiefly for insulation or lighting in a non-combustible cylindrical container with a diameter about 36mm, and a height not exceeding 19mm
Note 1: A non-combustible cylindrical container made of metal, glass or plastic can prevent molten candle from flowing out or spilling.
Note 2: Insulation means that tea light is placed in a burner to keep containers containing coffee, tea or other liquids warm.
