Textiles - Determination of lead release

1 Scope
This document describes the test method for determining lead release from textiles and textile product accessories after artificial saliva treatment using the inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometer (ICP-OES), graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometer (GFAAS) or inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICP-MS).
This document is applicable to the detection of textiles and textile product accessories (buttons, zippers, etc.).

4 Principle
Place the prepared specimen in artificial saliva for oscillation treatment, use the inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometer, graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometer or inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer to determine the lead concentration in artificial saliva after oscillation treatment, and calculate the lead release from the specimen per unit time based on the specimen area. The amount of lead released shall be expressed in micrograms per square centimeter hour [μg/(cm2·h)].
