GB/T 44152-2024 Ultrasonic testing method for ends of seamless steel tube
1 Scope
This document specifies the general requirements, testing equipment, test blocks, testing methods, debugging and verification of testing equipment, result evaluation, and test reports for ultrasonic testing of ends of seamless steel tubes.
This document is applicable to ultrasonic testing for longitudinal, transverse, and delamination imperfections at the ends of seamless steel tubes with an outer diameter not less than 6 mm and an outer diameter-to-wall thickness ratio not less than 5
Note: The delamination imperfection detection specified in this document is applicable to steel tubes with a wall thickness not less than 5 mm.

For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 5777, GB/T 12604.1, GB/T 20737, GB/T 41966, and the following apply.
3.1
detection area of tube end
area at both ends of a steel tube that cannot be effectively tested during automatic testing of the tube body; see Figure 1

4 General requirements
4.1 Unless otherwise specified in the product standard or agreed upon by both the supplier and purchaser, testing shall be performed after the main production processes of the steel tube (such as rolling, heat treatment, cold working and hot working, sizing, and straightening) are completed.
4.2 The ends of the steel tube to be tested shall be cut square and possess sufficient straightness to ensure the effectiveness of the testing. The surface of the tube ends shall be free of any foreign substances that may affect testing reliability.
4.3 A coupling medium that provides good coupling performance without damaging the surface of the steel tube shall be selected. Local water immersion and water film, and other coupling methods should be adopted.
4.4 Testing shall be performed by personnel who have been trained and qualified in accordance with GB/T 9445, ISO 11484, or equivalent standards, under the supervision of qualified personnel appointed by the employer. In cases where third-party testing is involved, this requirement shall be determined through negotiation between the supplier and purchaser.
4.5 Upon agreement between the supplier and purchaser, testing for longitudinal imperfections at the ends of steel tubes with an outer diameter-to-wall thickness ratio less than 5 shall be carried out in accordance with Annex A.
