1 Scope
This document specifies the general requirements and performance requirements for the door open warning system of passenger cars and describes the testing methods.
This document is applicable to Class M1 vehicles equipped with a door open warning system.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 39263 and the following apply.
3.1
door open warning system; DOWS
system intended to monitor other road users on the side and rear of the vehicle when it is parked and about to open the door and issue a warning message when there is a risk of collision due to the door being opened
3.2
subject vehicle
passenger car under test equipped with a DOWS (3.1) and testing equipment
3.3
bicycle
bicycle with two wheels
3.4
target
target vehicle (3.4.1) and target bicycle (3.4.2) moving within the warning area of the subject vehicle (3.2)
3.4.1
target vehicle
motor vehicles moving within the warning area of the subject vehicle (3.2)
3.4.2
target bicycle
bicycle (3.3) moving within the warning area of the subject vehicle (3.2)
3.5
lateral distance
distance between the outermost edge of the subject vehicle's (3.2) body (excluding exterior rear-view mirrors) and the outermost edge of the side of the target vehicle (3.4.1) (excluding exterior rear-view mirrors), or the longitudinal centerline of the target bicycle (3.4.2)

4 General requirements
4.1 Function
When the vehicle is stationary, the DOWS shall at least issue a warning message to the driver and passengers when the door is opened and there is a risk of collision with the target.
4.2 Self-inspection
The DOWS shall be subjected to self-inspection after power-on and have at least the following self-inspection functions:
a) Inspect whether related electrical components work properly;
b) Inspect whether related sensing elements work properly.
