GB/T 45331-2025 ePTFE membrane for reinforcement of proton exchange membrane
1 Scope
This standard specifies technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules as well as marking, packaging, transportation and storage of ePTFE membrane for reinforcement of proton exchange membrane (hereinafter referred as “ePTFE membrane”).
This document is applicable to the scientific research, production, use and management of ePTFE membrane for reinforcement of proton exchange membrane, and as for other categories of ion exchange membrane reinforcement materials, it serves as a reference.
2 Normative references
The following normative documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies.
GB/T 191 Packaging - Pictorial marking for handling of goods
GB/T 20042.3-2022 Proton exchange membrane fuel cell - Part 3: Test method for proton exchange membrane

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
ePTFE membrane for reinforcement of proton exchange membrane
membrane produced by biaxial stretching process with polytetrafluoroethylene resin as raw material, which can be compounded with proton conductive polymer and enhance mechanical strength
3.2
porosity
percentage of membrane pore volume to the total membrane volume
[Source: GB/T 20103-2006, 2.1.32]
3.3
most probable pore size
pore size corresponding to where the percentage of occurrence is maximum on pore size distribution curve
[Source: 3.2 of GB/T 5002-2016]
3.4
mass per unit area
mass per unit area of membrane in its natural state
Note 1: It includes membrane entities and their open pores and closed pores.
Note 2: It is consistent with the concept of gram weight, g/m2.
3.5
volume density
mass per unit volume of membrane in its natural state
Note 1: It includes membrane entities and their open pores and closed pores.
Note 2: The unit is gram per cubic centimeter (g/cm2).
4 Technical requirements
4.1 Appearance
The surface of ePTFE membrane shall be flat, uniform in color, and free from defects such as cracks, indentations, scratches, impurities and pinholes visible to the naked eye.
4.2 Physical properties
The physical properties of ePTFE membrane shall be as specified in Table 1.
