According to the requirements of Document Jian Biao [2002] NO.85 issued by former Ministry of Construction (MOC) - "Notice on Printing and Publishing the Development and Revision Plan of National Engineering Construction Standards in 2001 ~ 2002", this Standard was formulated by revising the "Building Constructions-Modular Coordination-Standards for Factory Buildings" (GBJ 6-86) jointly by the China United Engineering Corporation and the design organizations concerned.
During the revision process of this Standard, the revision group researched the contents of the former standards, conducted extensive investigation focusing on single-story and multi-story steel industrial buildings, earnestly summarized practical experience, extensively solicited the comments of the organizations concerned nationwide, and finalized this Standard upon review.
This Standard comprises 5 chapters, with the main contents as follows: general provisions, terms and symbols, basic requirement, single-story industrial buildings and multi-story industrial buildings.
The main technical contents revised in this Standard this time are as follows:
1. The contents related to reinforced concrete industrial buildings in the former standard were revised comprehensively;
2. The contents related to common steel structures and light steel structures of single-story industrial buildings were added;
3. The contents related to common steel structures and light steel structures of multi-story industrial buildings were added.

1 General Provisions
1.0.1 This Standard is formulated with a view to making the geometric dimension of main components, accessories and assemblies in industrial buildings meet the building module, realizing standardization and seriation, and facilitating commercial process.
1.0.2 This Standard is applicable to the following conditions:
1 Design for fabricated or partially-fabricated reinforced concrete industrial buildings, steel industrial buildings and reinforced concrete and steel industrial buildings;
2 Size coordination among related professions in industrial buildings design;
3 Preparation of general design drawings for components and accessories of industrial buildings.
1.0.3 Uniform types of components and accessories should be adopted for the industrial buildings at the same site. Uniform types of components and accessories shall be adopted for the same industrial building.
1.0.4 Industrial buildings should be such designed as to be regular and simple in shape, with orthogonal axis.
1.0.5 During the design of industrial buildings, the building components and accessories for the same purposes shall be replaceable.
1.0.6 Industrial buildings design shall not only meet the requirements stipulated in this Standard, but also comply with those in the current relevant ones of the nation.

2.1.2 Connecting size
The off-set value set between longitudinal positioning axis and outer edge of side column or high span upper column at high-low span of industrial building due to the technical requirements of upper column section, in order to make the upper column section coordinated with the minimum clearance distance with upper column required by such lifting equipment as bridge crane, beam crane or single-beam suspension crane to maintain normal operation
2.1.3 Inserting size
The distance between two positioning axes inserted along a certain span direction or column spacing direction of industrial buildings due to the technical requirements of upper column section or construction requirements such as deformation joint treatment
2.1.4 Modular size
The size meeting the requirements of modular array
2.1.5 Technical size
Minimum size values for section or thickness of building components and accessories, under optimal state of economy, satisfying the requirements of building functions and technologies
2.1.6 Coordinating size
The size meeting the requirements of modular array, for marking the vertical distance among building positioning axial surface, positioning surface or positioning axis and position line, and for marking the boundaries of building components and accessories, building assemblies, building products and related equipment

3 Basic Requirement
3.0.1 The base number for plane and vertical modular coordination of industrial buildings should be multi-module 3M.
3.0.2 Where the component section size of industrial buildings is less than or equal to 400 mm, the module should be graded as 1/2M; where it is greater than 400 mm, the module should be graded as 1M.
3.0.3 Single-axis should be adopted for the longitudinal and transverse positioning of industrial building components; dual-axis may be adopted if inserting size or connecting size is required.
3.0.4 Corresponding design elevation lines may be adopted as the position lines for vertical positioning of industrial building components.
3.0.5 As for the single-story reinforced concrete and common steel industrial buildings, the bent structure system with rigid-connected column base and hinged column top and roof truss or roof beam should be adopted; as for the single-story common steel industrial buildings, the frame structure system with rigid-connected column top and roof truss or roof beam may be adopted; as for the single-story light steel industrial buildings, the portal frame structure system with rigid-connected or hinged column base should be adopted.
3.0.6 As for the multi-story reinforced concrete and common steel industrial buildings, the frame structure system with transverse rigid connection and longitudinal hinged connection or rigid connection should be adopted at the joint of beam and column; as for the multi-story light steel industrial buildings, the frame structure system with transverse rigid connection or hinged connection and longitudinal hinged connection shall be adopted at the joint of beam and column.
3.0.7 As for the single-story reinforced concrete and common steel industrial buildings, the non-purlin structural systems laid with sheet materials should be adopted for the roofs; as for the single-story light steel industrial buildings, the purlin structural systems laid with metal sheets should be adopted for the roofs.
3.0.8 As for the multi-story reinforced concrete industrial buildings, the structural systems laid with sheet materials without secondary beam should be adopted for the roofs and floors; as for the multi-story common steel industrial buildings, the structural systems laid with sheet materials without secondary beam should be adopted for the roofs and floors; as for the multi-story light steel industrial buildings, the steel-bracing floor slabs should be adopted for the floors and the purlin structural systems laid with metal sheets should be adopted for the roofs.
3.0.9 The wall structures of industrial buildings shall be appropriate to their major structure types, and for which metal sheets and nonmetal sheets or light masonry materials whose sizes meet the module requirements should be selected.
3.0.10 Load values of industrial buildings shall meet the relevant requirements of the current national standard "Load Code for the Design of Building Structures" (GB 50009). Designed roof load and wind load values for industrial buildings should meet the following requirements:
1 Roof load design values of reinforced concrete industrial buildings and common steel industrial buildings may be 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0, 5.5 or 6.0kN/m2;
2 Roof load design values of light steel industrial buildings may be 0.6, 1.0, 1.4, 1.8 or 2.3kN/m2;
3 Standard value of reference wind pressure should be adopted as wind load that is 0.35, 0.50, 0.70 or 0.90kN/m2.
3.0.11 Roof slopes of industrial buildings should be 1:5, 1:10, 1:15, 1:20 or 1:30.
