1 General Provisions
1.0.1 This code is formulated in order to strengthen the guidance of the technical renovation of the small hydropower station, scientifically utilize the hydro energy resources, guarantee the safe operation of the small hydropower station,, improve the production technology level as well as the energy efficiency and give full play to the economic benefit.
1.0.2 This code is applicable to the technical renovation of the small hydropower station with the installed gross capacity of 500~50000kW.
1.0.3 The technical renovation of the small hydropower station shall satisfy the need of safety, energy saving, environmental protection requirements, starting from the reality, making the best of the original facilities or equipment of the hydropower station, proactively adopting new technique, new process, new facilities, new material. It is banned to use the outdated products that are prohibited by the national government.
1.0.4 Before the technical renovation of the small hydropower station, relevant design document shall be prepared, and shall be reported to relevant competent authorities for examination or approval.
1.0.5 The technical renovation of the small hydropower station shall not only be in accordance with the requirements stipulated in this code, but also shall comply with those in the current relevant ones of the nation.
2 Terms
2.0.1 Technical renovation
The act of taking technical measures to conduct improvement, reconstruction, update, increase or capacity reduction of the facilities or equipment of the small hydropower station so as to improve of the reliability, economical efficiency, rationality and advancement.
2.0.2 Renovation by renewal of equipment
The act of improving performance of the facilities or equipment, increasing the efficiency and reliability, performing replacement of the facilities or equipment of the small hydropower station.
2.0.3 Renovation for increasing installed capacity
The act of performing technical renovation of the partial or complete unit equipment, increasing the unit capacity, improving the performance, efficiency, safety and reliability. Unit expansion is also one of the methods to increase the capacity.
2.0.4 Renovation for decreasing installed capacity
The act of performing technical renovation of the partial or total part of the unit equipment, reducing the unit capacity reasonably, improving the performance, optimizing the operational area, improving the efficiency and safe reliability.
