本标准规定了高温还原-提取测定金属粉末中不大于2%（质量分数）的总氧量的方法。本标准适用于各种金属、合金、碳化物（硬质合金）以及在测试条件下午挥发性组分的混合物粉末。也可用于测定烧结金属材料中的总氧量。样品可以是粉末状。粉末按供给状态进行分析。本方法不适合于含有润滑剂或粘结剂的粉末。如果样品中含有润滑剂或粘结剂，只有在首先采用某方法能完全除去这些物质而又不影响氧含量的情况下才可能使用本方法。
