本标准适用于制造高压及其以上压力的蒸汽锅炉、管道用无缝钢管。
本标准自实施之日起，GB 5310-1995《高压锅炉用无缝钢管》作废。本标准与GB 5310-1995相比，主要变化如下：
―――增加了分类和代号；
―――取消了尺寸规格表；
―――增加了按最小壁厚或公称内径的尺寸交货方式；
―――修改了钢管的尺寸允许偏差；
