GB/T 5847-2004 Dimensional chain — Methods of calculation
1 Scope
This standard specifies the types, calculation parameters and calculation formulas of dimensional chains.
This standard is applicable to the calculation of length dimensions, angle dimensions and tolerances of dimensional chain relationships in mechanical products.
2 Normative references
The following normative documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this standard. For dated references, subsequent amendments (excluding corrections) to, or revisions of, any of these publications do not apply to this standard. However parties to agreements based on this standard are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent editions of the normative documents indicated below. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document applies.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this standard, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 1800.1 and the following apply.
3.1
dimensional chain
a closed group of dimensions is formed from interconnected dimensions during machine assembling or part processing, as shown in Figure 1, a), b) and Figure 2, b), c).
Figure 1
3.2
link
each dimension listed in the dimensional chain (A0, A1, A2, A3, A4 and A5 in Figure 1, and α0, α1 and α2 in Figure 2)
3.3
closing link
the final link in the dimensional chain formed during assembling or processing (A0 in Figure 1, α0 in Figure 2).
3.4
component link
all links in the dimensional chain that have an effect on the closing link. A change in any one of these links necessarily causes a change in the closing link (A1, A2, A3, A4 and A5 in Figure 1, and α1 and α2 in Figure 2)
