1 Scope
This part of GB/T 5907 defines common terms and definitions related to fire prevention.
This part is applicable to fire prevention, fire management, fire standardization, fire safety engineering, fire science research, teaching, consulting, publishing and other related work fields.

2.1 Building fire protection

unclosed staircase in a building

fire separation
measures limiting fire in the igniting area within a certain period of time by separating the interior space of a building with some fire resistant building components
2.1.3
fire compartment
local space into which a building is subdivided by fire wall (2.1.6), fire resistant floor and other fire separation (2.1.2), capable of preventing fire from spreading to the rest of the same building within a certain period of time
2.1.4
fire separation distance
interval distance used for preventing radiant heat of the building on fire from igniting adjacent buildings within a certain period of time and convenient for fire extinguishing

safety curtain
movable screen designed to block the smoke and hot gases from a fire
2.1.6
fire wall
incombustible solid walls with duration of fire resistance (2.1.12) not less than 3.00h, which prevent fire from spreading to adjacent buildings or adjacent horizontal fire compartments (2.1.3)
