1 Scope
This standard specifies the general requirements for method for ultrasonic testing of clad steel plates, including testing methods, comparative specimens, testing equipment and debugging, evaluation and grading of unbonded parts, etc.
This standard is applicable to the bonding quality testing of composite surface of rolled clad steel plates and explosive welded clad steel plates with thickness of baseplate above 4mm. this standard may also serve as reference for the ultrasonic testing of clad steel plates of other specifications.
2 Normative references
The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this standard. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies.
GB/T 2970-2016 Method for ultrasonic testing of thicker steel plates
JB/T 10061 Commonly used specification for A-mode ultrasonic flaw detector using pulse echo technique
3 General requirements
3.1 The surface of plate under testing shall be flat, smooth and uniform in thickness, and shall be free of liquid drop, oil stain, corrosion and other dirt.
3.2 The internal structure of plate under testing shall not generate interference echoes that will affect the testing.
3.3 The testing site shall be protected from strong light, high-intensity magnetic field, violent vibration, corrosive gas, serious dust and other factors that affect the stability of ultrasonic flaw detector or reliable observation by testing personnel.
3.4 The personnel engaged in ultrasonic testing of plates shall hold the qualification certificate of ultrasonic flaw detection at Level 1 and above issued by the certification body, and those who issue the testing report shall obtain the qualification certificate of ultrasonic flaw detection at Level 2 and above issued by the certification body.
