本标准代替ＧＢ／Ｔ９０４３—１９９９《通信设备过电压保护用气体放电管通用技术条件》。本标准规定了二极和三极气体放电管的有关定义、分类与命名、要求、关于放射性物质、试验方法 、试验环境、检验规则、标志、包装及运输等基本要求。本标准与ＧＢ／Ｔ９０４３—１９９９的主要技术差异如下：
———将气体放电管的标称直流击穿电压进行了更细类别的划分（见表１）。
———增加了低冲击击穿电压类别的气体放电管的击穿电压要求（见表２）。
———修改了击穿电压合格评定方法（见表３）。
———增加了寿命试验的测试等级，并增加了测试类别（见表４）。
———明确了电容测试的测试电压（见６．５）。
———增加了大功率放电管的电压范围及耐流试验推荐方案（见附录Ｂ）。
