本标准规定了彩色显示器白平衡点色坐标的最佳值及其允许误差。本标准适用于各种彩色显示器在彩色显示器的生产或调试中作为白平衡操作的一个参照目标值。并可作为各种彩色显示器校验和检测的依据。本标准是对原标准GB/T 936-1989《彩色电视接收机白场色温及其宽容度》的修订。主要修改之处包括：
——名称修改为《彩色显示器白平衡点色坐标及其宽容度》，使本标准的适用范围扩大到所有彩色显示器。
——白平衡点色坐标的表示：增加了u、v坐标系中白平衡点的数值。
