Test method of phenolic resin for ablative materials - Test of viscosity This standard refers to the international standard ISO 3219-1977 (E) Plastics -- Polymers in the liquid, emulsified or dispersed state - Determination of viscosity with a rotational viscometer working at defined shear rate. 1 Subject content and applicable scope This standard specifies the method of testing the viscosity of phenolic resin with rotational viscometer. It is applicable to the determination of viscosity of phenolic resin for ablative materials. It may be used as a reference for other alcohol-soluble phenolic resins. 2 Normative references GJB 1059.1 Test method of phenolic resin for ablative materials - Test of solid content 3 Method summary The viscosity of phenolic resin is determined with a specified rotational viscometer under the specified conditions (temperature and concentration). 4 Reagents Ethanol: Grade I industrial ethanol. 5 Apparatus 5.1 Rotational viscometer: rotating cylinder type or rotor type, which shall have a determination vessel connected with thermostatic water bath. 5.2 Thermostatic water bath: with a temperature control accuracy of ±0.5℃. 5.3 Thermometer: with a measuring range of 0℃~50℃, and a division value of 0.2℃. 5.4 Balance: with a sensibility of 0.1g.
