Depth of nitriding layer: it includes compound layer (white-bright layer) and diffusion layer; the depth refers to the vertical distance measured from the workpiece surface to the clear boundary from the matrix structure or the position of specified boundary hardness value, expressed by the Latin alphabet DN.
