1 Scope
This part of JB/T 10696 specifies the conditions, procedures and result evaluation of rat gnawing test.
This part is applicable to the determination of rat gnawing performance of wires and cables with anti-rat repellent.

3 Rat species and breeding
3.1 SD rats are recommended for the test. The species adopted for test shall only be used for rat gnawing test method after being certified by an official research institution.
3.2 Healthy SD rats bred in clean or superior facilities without subjecting to any other test are adopted; unmated male and female rats are adopted.
3.3 Rats shall be bred in stainless steel wire cages or plastic cages with length not less than 300mm, width not less than 200mm and height not less than 100mm.
3.4 Other rat species, where adopted, shall be specified and indicated in the test report.
