1 General Provisions
1.0.1 This code was formulated with a view to guaranteeing the design quality of the sports building and making it meet basic requirements on such aspects as the functions of use, safety, sanitation, technique, economy and sport technology.
1.0.2 This code is applicable to the engineering design on the construction, renovation and extension of the stadium, sports hall, swimming pool and natatorium used for competition and training.
1.0.3 When the sports building has multiple application (or functions), the building standard specification of its technical standards shall be determined according to its main application, other application shall also be properly considered at the same time.
1.0.4 The sports building design shall be able to create good competition and training environments for athletes, create safe and good audio visual environments for spectators, and create convenient and effective working environments for workers.
1.0.5 The sports building design shall be carried out, according to the climate and geographic differences, economic and technical development state, national customs and traditional factors, by adjusting measures to local conditions in combination with China's national conditions.
1.0.6 Full consideration shall be taken for the application and operation of sports facilities (especially the facilities built for significant competitions) after the competition in order to guarantee the maximum exertion of their social benefits and economic benefits.
1.0.7 The sports building grade shall be graded according to its service requirements and shall be in accordance with those specified in Table 1.0.7.

1.0.8 The structure design service life and fire resistance rating of the sports building with different grades shall be in accordance with those specified in Table 1.0.8.

1.0.9 In the official competition, the sports building design must meet the requirements proposed in the competition rules for all items of sports issued by the sports competent department of the nation. In the international competition, meanwhile it still must meet related standards and provisions of relevant international sports organizations.
1.0.10 The sports building design shall not only meet the requirements stipulated in this code, but also shall meet those specified in the current relevant mandatory standards of the nation.
2 Terms
2.0.1 Sports building
It is the building used for such activities as sports athletics, sports teaching, sports recreation and sports exercise.
2.0.2 Sports facilities
It is the generic term of the sports buildings, areas, outdoor facilities and sports materials used for such activities as sports athletics, sports teaching, sports recreation and sports exercise.
2.0.3 Stadium
It is the building that has capacious outdoor areas used for sports competition and other shows and meanwhile can provide lots of seats for the spectators.
2.0.4 Sports hall
It is the sports building used for such individual or several indoor athletics competitions and training as balls, indoor track and field, ice sport, gymnastics (skills), martial art, boxing, fencing, weight lifting, wrestling and jujitsu. It mainly consists of competition and practice ground, stands and auxiliary rooms as well as facilities. The sports hall may be divided into comprehensive sports hall and special sports hall according to the function of competition areas. The sports hall without stands for the spectator and corresponding rooms also may be referred as training room.
2.0.5 Natatorial facilities
This refers to the building and facilities used for indoor and outdoor competition and practice of swimming, diving, water polo and synchronised swimming, which named as swimming pool (swimming area) for the outdoor one while named as natatorium (room) for the indoor one, mainly consisting of competitive basin, rowing tank, stands, auxiliary rooms and facilities.
2.0.6 Arena
It is the sports area enclosed by the seats for the spectator and its auxiliary areas, including athletics area and buffer area.
2.0.7 Track
It is the area in the stadium and used for track events. The track in the official competition is a long circular one with full length of 400m, and there are strict requirements for the area direction, surface course and specification.
2.0.8 Synthetic surface
It is the floor surface course made with artificially synthesized method, in the track and field as well as some balls events, the synthetic surface which meets the requirements of that event is required to adopt.
2.0.9 Football pitch
It is the rectangle area used for playing football matches.
2.0.10 Stands
It is the structure body, setting with seats for the spectator and providing good viewing conditions and safe convenient evacuation conditions for the spectator, in the sports facilities.
2.0.11 Seats for the spectator
It is the seat in sports facilities and used for the spectator to watch the competition.
2.0.12 sightline
It is the line connected from the spectator's eyes to the area design focus point.
2.0.13 Focus point
It is the plan position approach in the area design determined when the entire or most of the competition area can be guaranteed to be seen by the spectator according to different competition events and different standards in order to guarantee the viewing quality of spectators.
2.0.14 Viewing distance
It is the distance from the spectator's eyes to the observed object in the competition area.
2.0.15 Angle of sight
It is the included angle between the sightline and the apparent horizon. The oversize angle of sight will cause the perspective deformation visually.
2.0.16 Fixing seating
It refers to the seats for the spectator fixed to the stands structure in the sports facilities.
2.0.17 Retractable seating
It refers to the seating have special construction that may take in and move the seats.
2.0.18 Press seats
It refers to the specialized seats for such media reporters as journalists and broadcast television reporters in the seats on the stands in the official competition.
2.0.19 Box
It is the room, set in the seats for the spectator of stands, for meeting special requirements of part of spectators. Generally, it consists of watching seats and rest rooms.
2.0.20 Seats width
It is the width of the seats for the spectator.
2.0.21 Row depth
It is the distance between rows of seats for the spectator.
2.0.22 Multi-purpose usage
It is the usage mode of sports facilities that can meet the application of multiple sporting events or other functions except sporting events.
2.0.23 Practice room
It is the hall room used for training of sporting events.
2.0.24 Warming up area
It is the area for athletes to do warming up activities before the official competition in the sports competition. Its specification shall meet the requirements of different events.
2.0.25 Doping control room
It is a special room for testing and sampling that whether athletes take illicit drugs in the official sports competition.
2.0.26 Swimming pool
It is a special basin used for swimming competition or training. There are defined requirements for the specification, dimension and regulations of the competitive basin, under the premise of meeting the technical conditions, the competition and training of other overwater events may also be carried out.
2.0.27 Diving pool
It is the special basin for diving competition and training. Its specification and facilities all shall meet strict requirements of the regulations.
2.0.28 Training pool
It is the pool used for training, and its requirements of specification and facilities shall be determined according to its training events.
2.0.29 Swimming lane
It is the competition activity area defined by the marker line of the water surface float, bottom of the pool and the edge of the pool in the swimming pool competition.
2.0.30 Starting block
It is the special facility at the starting end of the swimming pool, and its specification shall meet the requirements of regulations.
2.0.31 Touch pads
It is the specialized electronic timing set installed at the edge of the pool of the end line of the swimming pool in the official swimming competition.
2.0.32 Edge of the pool
It is the perpendicular wall surface of various pools of natatorial facilities, and the relevant marks and facilities shall be set according to the requirements of different events.
2.0.33 Beach area
It is the area between the pool side and the pool of natatorial facilities.
2.0.34 Diving boards
It is the competition facility in the diving board events, divided into two types of 1m and 3m; its diving board height is from the board surface to the water surface, the material and surface course shall meet the provisions of regulations.
2.0.35 Diving platform
It is the competition facility in the diving platform events, divided into three types of 5m, 7.5m and 10m diving platforms; the setting, surface course, water depth and the space around all shall meet the requirements of regulations.
2.0.36 Underwater lighting
It is the illuminator installed at the underwater of the pool according to competition events and service requirements.
2.0.37 Underwater sound
It is the sound equipment installed at the underwater of the pool according to competition events and service requirements.
2.0.38 Adjustable floor
It is a kind of technical means to adjust the water depth of the swimming pool through changing the height of the bottom of the pool according to various requirements in application.
3 Base and General Layout
3.0.1 The selection of the sports building base shall meet the local overall plan of the town and the layout requirements of sports facilities to achieve the application benefits, economic benefits, social benefits and environmental benefits.
3.0.2 The base selection shall meet the following requirements:
1 It shall have the characteristics and service requirements that suitable for developing sport events;
2 The transportation shall be convenient. According to the scale size of the sports facilities, at least one side or two sides of the base shall be adjacently connected to the urban road respectively. This road shall be provided with adequate passing width in order to guarantee the evacuation and transportation;
3 It shall be convenient for utilizing the existing basic facilities in the city;
4 The environment shall be preferable. The distance from the pollution source, high tension line, flammable and high explosive cargo places shall reach the relevant regulation of protection, such natural disasters as floods, waterlogging and landslide shall be prevented, and the influence of the application of sports facilities on the surrounding environment shall be noticed.
