2 Terms and Symbols
2.1 Terms
2.1.1 Fineness
A parameter to indicate the fineness degree of cement. Express the fineness of cement specimen with specific surface area or percentage of the mass of sieve residue gained by specified sieve accounting for the original mass of the specimen.
2.1.2 Setting time
Time from adding water to losing plasticity of cement slurry
2.1.3 Soundness
A physical index to indicate the volume change uniformity after cement hardening. Redwood method indicates the cubical expansion of cement with the normal consistency, which is measured by the relative displacement of two touch needles. and Pat method indicates the cubical expansion of pat under the condition of the normal consistency of cement.
2.1.4 Normal consistency
It, consistency for short, is referred to the moisture addition when neat cement paste reaches the required consistency, and it is expressed by the percentage of cement mass and used to determinate the water consumption of cement slurry setting time and soundness.
2.1.5 Cement mortar
Mixture of cement, sand and water in a certain proportion. Cement may come with different types; sand may be standard sand or ISO Standard Sand; general water consumption changes with the various requirements.
2.1.6 Roller-compacted concrete
A harsh cement concrete shaped by vibroroller compacting.
2.1.7 Slump
Sinkage of new shaped concrete mixture under the deadweight action.
2.1.8 Slump spread
