1 Scope
This standard specifies a method for determining the apparent density of leather.
This standard is applicable to all types of leathers.
2 Normative References
The following normative documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this standard. For dated references, subsequent amendments (excluding corrections), or revisions, of any of these publications do not apply to this standard. However parties to agreements based on this standard are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent editions of the normative documents indicated below. For undated references, the latest edition of the normative document referred to applies.
QB/T 2706-2005 Leather - Chemical, Physical and Mechanical and Fastness Tests - Sampling Location (ISO 2418:2002, MOD)
QB/T 2707-2005 Leather - Physical and Mechanical Tests - Sample Preparation and Conditioning (ISO 2419:2002, MOD)
QB/T 2709-2005 Leather - Physical and Mechanical Tests - Determination of Thickness (ISO 2589:2002, MOD)
3 Principle
The volume of a circular specimen is calculated from the diameter and thickness by treating the specimen as a regular cylinder. The apparent density is obtained by dividing the mass by the volume.
