QB/T 4116-2023 Case and bag - Test method for rotary drum
1 Scope
This document describes the test method for rotary drum of case and bag.
This document applies to the testing of the impact performance of rotary drum for various types of travel cases and bags.
2 Normative references
The following normative documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition (including any amendments) applies.

3 Terms and definitions
No terms and definitions are defined in this document.
4 Principle
Place the specimen into the inner cavity of the rotary drum of the drum testing machine. As the drum rotates, the specimen tumbles naturally and collides with the drum wall and obstacles, thereby subjecting the specimen to impact and shock. At a certain rotation speed, after a certain number of rotation cycles, check the overall quality of the specimen.
5 Apparatus
5.1 Testing machine for rotary drum of case and bag
The following components shall be included:
a) Metal drum: the inner cavity is a regular hexagonal prism structure. Obstacles such as guide plates and baffles are provided on four of the inner cavity surfaces, so that the specimen is subjected to various degrees of impact during tumbling. The structural dimensions and materials shall comply with the provisions of Annex A;
b) Guardrail: to keep the specimen in the test position during tumbling;
c) Control device: with the functions of setting the rotation mode, rotation speed, number of rotations and adjusting the zero point;
d) Recording device: with automatic recording and memory functions.
5.2 Steel tape
With an accuracy of 1 mm.
6 Test conditions
6.1 Temperature: 18 °C to 25 °C;
6.2 Before test, the specimen shall be conditioned in the specified environment for at least 1 h.
7 Test methods
7.1 Check the appearance quality of the specimen. Determine the volume of the traveling bag in accordance with Method B in QB/T 5083‑2017, or measure the dimensions of the traveling case using a steel tape (or a special ruler).
Note: For traveling cases, the measurement shall be based on the longest point of the outline in the natural state of the case body (excluding castors and handles).
7.2 Load the specified load into the case or bag body of the specimen in accordance with Table 1. The load should preferably fill the inner cavity as much as possible and be evenly distributed.
