A control unit used to manage the operating state of the steering wheel heating device under the guidance of bus or physical switch control methods.
3.6 negative temperature coefficient sensor (NTC)
A thermistor element with temperature-response characteristics whose resistance value decreases as temperature increases.
3.7 heating rate
Under specified conditions, the average rate of change of the surface temperature at each measuring point on the steering wheel rim from the first temperature value to the second temperature value.
3.8 saturation temperature
Under specified heating level conditions, the average temperature of each measuring point on the steering wheel rim surface when a dynamic equilibrium state is reached.
3.9 heating homogeneity
The uniformity of temperature between the left and right areas of the steering wheel rim surface when the saturation temperature state is reached.
3.10 steering wheel hands off detection (HOD)
A detection assembly installed inside the steering wheel rim, used to detect whether there is contact between the driver's hand and the steering wheel.
4 Requirements
4.1 General Requirements
4.1.1 At room temperature, the resistance value deviation of the steering wheel heating device shall not exceed ±10% of the design value.
4.1.2 The steering wheel heating device shall be free from defects such as contamination, damage, cracks, and wrinkles.
4.1.3 The steering wheel heating device and its system shall only be activated for operation after the ignition key or preset power-on, and the system operating status shall be displayed.
4.1.4 After installing the steering wheel heating device, the appearance of the steering wheel shall comply with the requirements of QC/T 563-2014, section 4.2.
4.1.5 The steering wheel heating device shall be compatible with the steering wheel hands off detection (HOD) function and shall not affect its operation.
4.1.6 The wiring harness of the steering wheel heating device shall be installed in a non-stressed state and shall comply with the relevant provisions of QC/T 29106.
4.1.7 The prohibited substances in the steering wheel heating device shall comply with the relevant provisions of GB/T 30512.
4.1.8 Temperature range:
Operating temperature range: -40°C to 65°C.
Storage temperature range: -40°C to 90°C.
4.2 Performance Requirements
4.2.1 Flammability Characteristics
The flammability characteristics of steering wheel heating devices for buses shall comply with the provisions of GB 38262. For other types of vehicles, the flammability characteristics shall comply with the provisions of GB 8410.
4.2.2 Insulation Impedance
After testing according to 5.4, the insulation impedance shall be not less than 10.0 MΩ.
4.2.3 Heating Rate
After testing according to 5.5, with heating turned on for 5 minutes, the average temperature of the steering wheel rim surface shall not be lower than 10°C (reference for steering wheels with HOD function).
