1 Scope
This specification specifies requirements of petrochemical equipment and pipe insulation material, thermal insulation calculation and insulation structure design.
This code is applicable to thermal insulation design of equipment and pipe in petrochemical industry; this specification is not applicable to inner thermal insulation lining design of equipment and pipe and thermal insulation design of pipes with special requirements.

3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this specification, the terms and definitions given in SH/T 3051 and the following apply.
3.1
thermal insulation
general term of heat insulation and cold insulation
3.2
heat insulation
wrapping measures taken for external surfaces of equipment, pipes and their accessories so as to prevent them from radiating heat into surrounding environment
3.3
cold insulation
wrapping measures taken for external surfaces of low-temperature equipment and pipes in order to reduce heat capacity introduced from surrounding environment into low-temperature equipment and pipes and avoid condensation on outer wall surfaces of low-temperature equipment and pipes
3.4
economic thickness
calculated thickness when sum of expenses for annual heat (cold) radiation loss and annual amortization expenses of insulation engineering investment is minimum after thermal insulation
