1 Scope
This specification specifies the basic requirements for design, manufacture, inspection and test of agitators in petrochemical industry.
This specification is applicable to the engineering design and equipment procurement of agitators for petrochemical industry.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of these specifications, the following terms and definitions apply.

assembly of agitator-vessel and agitator

agitator-vessel
vessel for completing the physical and chemical processes of a medium under the action of an agitator
3.3
agitator
machine consisting of impeller, shaft, shaft seal system and driving device (driver, reducer, rack and coupling)
3.4
impeller
component consisting of blades or vane wheel of various geometric shapes
3.5
shaft seal
sealing device at the joint of agitator transmission shaft and agitator-vessel
4 Alternative designs
The seller may provide alternative designs that are beneficial to all parties concerned (the buyer/seller) from a technical and commercial point of view. The alternative design provided by the seller shall include detailed description, use performance and standard specifications for application. The buyer shall evaluate the alternative design scheme and decide whether to adopt it or not.
