1 Scope
This standard specifies the definitions of terms for quality inspection of cereals, feedstuffs, oil bearing materials, and oils and fats for import and export.
This standard is applicable to the quality inspection of cereals, feedstuffs, oil bearing materials, and oils and fats for import and export.
2 General terminology
2.1 cereals and oils
2.1.1 cereals
a general term for seeds, fruits and processed products of cereals, beans and other food crops, such as wheat, adzuki beans, rice and flour
2.1.2 oil bearing material
a general term for raw materials used in the production of vegetable oils, such as sesame and rapeseed
2.1.3 oil and fat
a general term for animal and vegetable oils and fats that have been processed to meet certain standards, such as rapeseed oil, and beef and mutton tallow
2.2 feed; feedstuffs
feedables for animals, including plant-based feeds, animal-base feeds and mixed feeds
2.3 packing
use of appropriate containers (such as bags and sacks) to store cereal, oil and feedstuff goods for the purposes of transportation and sales, which is classified into outer packing and inner packing
3 Terminology for sampling, preparation of test sample, and sample
3.1 consignment
goods of one shipment or receipt (import or export), under the same contract or of the same class, which may consist of one or more lots
3.2 lot
a certain quantity of goods taken from a consignment and having the same quality, which is the unit of sampling and inspection
3.3 sampling
taking representative samples from a lot of goods with suitable tools in accordance with the prescribed methods
3.4 reducing sample; preparation of test sample
preparation of test sample representing the quality of the bot of goods by homogeneously mixing and reducing the sample with suitable tools in accordance with the prescribed methods
3.5 sample
3.5.1 increment
a small number of samples taken at one time from a single sampling point in a batch
3.5.2 bulk sample
a certain number of samples obtained by mixing the increments taken from the same lot
3.5.3 laboratory sample
a certain number of samples obtained by mixing and reducing the bulk sample, which are used to prepare test samples and restore samples for each inspection item
