Technical specification for SDH-based MSTP network management system - Part 1: Basic principle
1 Scope
This part regulates the basic principles for formulating some standards of Technical specification for SDH-based MSTP network management system series, and specifies the SDH-based MSTP network management system, as well as the methodology adopted in formulating this part of standards, the management interface position defined and the communication protocol stack used.
This part is applicable to SDH-based MSTP network management systems.

3 Terms, definitions and abbreviations
3.1 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this part, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1.1 SDH-based MSTP
SDH-based multi-service platform which realizes access, processing and transport of multiple services such as TDM, ATM and Ethernet simultaneously, and provides uniform network management
3.1.2 network management system (NMS)
MSTP NMS, namely, a software and hardware system used to manage the MSTP network, which provides an end-to-end network view of the whole network, and is able to manage MSTP NEs or MSTP subnetworks provided by different device suppliers in the network
3.1.3 element management system (EMS)
MSTP EMS, namely, a software and hardware system used to manage one or more MSTP NEs, which manages MSTP NEs or MSTP subnetworks provided by a single device provider
Note: The EMS given in this part refers to the EMS and SNMS collectively in the traditional sense.
3.1.4 EMS-NMS interface
exchange mechanism of communication data and data between MSTP-NMS and MSTP-EMS
3.1.5 UNI-C
customer side of user network interface
