2GHz TD-SCDMA digital cellular mobile telecommunication network - Technical requirements of Ir interface
1 Scope
This standard specifies the functional requirements, performance requirements, interface physical layer, application layer C&M process and other technical requirements of Ir interface in radio access network (RAN) equipment of 2GHz TD-SCDMA digital cellular mobile communication network.
This standard is applicable to the Ir interface part of distributed base stations of 2GHz TD-SCDMA digital cellular mobile communication network.

4 General
The location of TD-SCDMA base station equipment (NodeB) in the network is shown in Figure 1.

TD-SCDMA base station equipment (NodeB) in this standard is distributed base station equipment, which is composed of base band unit (BBU) and remote RF unit (RRU), and is a kind of base station combination that can be flexibly distributed, as shown in Figure 2. The RRU is connected with the base band unit (BBU) through Ir interface, and the BBU is connected with the RNC through Iub interface. The BBUs may be interconnected through Ib interface (optional).

The basic network structure supported by Ir protocol is shown in Figure 3. A BBU and a RRU are connected by a pair of optical fibers. In order to meet the requirements of system expansion and network structure diversity, Ir protocol may extend the following connection methods:
➢ Star connection: Multiple RRUs serve the same BBU, as shown in Figure 4.
➢ Chain connection and ring connection support interconnection among multiple RRUs, as shown in Figures 5 and 6 respectively.
