YS/T 617.1-2007 Determination of chemical compositions and physical properties of aluminum powder magnesium powder and Al-Mg alloy powder Part 1 Determination of active Al Mg or Al-Mg content Gasometric method (English Version)
Determination of chemical compositions and physical properties of aluminum powder magnesium powder and Al-Mg alloy powder Part 1 Determination of active Al Mg or Al-Mg content Gasometric method
Determination of chemical compositions and physical properties of aluminum powder, magnesium powder and Al-Mg alloy powder - Part 1: Determination of active Al, Mg or Al-Mg content - Gasometric method
1 Scope
This part specifies the determination of active Al content in aluminum powder, active Mg content in magnesium powder and active Al-Mg content in Al-Mg alloy powder.
This part is applicable to the determination of active Al content in aluminum powder, active Mg content in magnesium powder and active Al-Mg content in Al-Mg alloy powder, with a determination range of the mass fraction of active metals ≥78%.
2 Method summary
2.1 The active Al in aluminum powder specimen reacts with sodium hydroxide to release hydrogen, and the mass fraction of active Al is calculated according to the volume of hydrogen.
2.2 The active Al and Mg in magnesium powder and Al-Mg alloy powder specimens react with hydrochloric acid to release hydrogen, and the mass fractions of active Mg and active Al-Mg are calculated according to the volume of hydrogen.
3 Reagents
3.1 Sodium hydroxide solution (200g/L).
3.2 Hydrochloric acid (1+4).
3.3 Sealing solution: 250g/L sodium chloride solution, 1g/L methyl orange solution as indicator, the solution is adjusted with hydrochloric acid (3.2) to be red and saturated with hydrogen.
4 Apparatus
4.1 Gas meter (schematic diagram is shown in Figure 1).
4.2 Leveling bottle (with proper amount of sealing solution (3.3)).
4.3 Mercury barometer (accurate to 0.01kPa).
