1 Scope
This standard specifies terms / definitions, requirements, test methods, test rules marking, packaging, transportation and storage of external automatic brake adjuster for city buses (hereinafter referred to as automatic brake adjuster).
This standard is applicable to automatic brake adjusters for city buses, and the adjusters for vehicles of other kinds may reference this standard.

3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
Automatic brake adjuster
Component used for pneumatic cam drum brake, to automatically compensate set clearance between brake lining and brake drum
3.2
Free clearance
Displacement measured on the adjuster length certain given distance away from the worm wheel center under the condition that the fixed worm wheel applies bidirectional turning moment on the case of the automatic brake adjuster
4 Requirements
4.1 Automatic brake adjuster shall be manufactured in accordance with the requirements of design drawings and technical documents approved through stipulated procedures.
4.2 Adjustment of force moment
As recommended by the manufactory, the worm screw is rotated a cycle along the clearance downward direction and a cycle along the clearance upward direction, and the force moment gotten at each direction must not exceed the recommended value given by the manufactory.
