3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
fire resistive coating for steel structure
A coating applied to the surface of a steel structure in a building (structure) that can form a fire-resistant and heat-insulating protective layer to improve the fire resistance limit of the steel structure.
3.2
section factor
The ratio of the external surface area of the fire-exposed surface per unit length of a steel member to its volume per unit length.
3.3
reactive diluent
A type of compound that can both dissolve or disperse the film-forming substance and participate in the film-forming reaction during the coating film formation process, forming a non-volatile component that remains in the coating film.
Note: A reactive diluent is also called a reactive solvent.
[Source: GB/T 34682-2017, 3.2, modified]
3.4
equivalent thermal resistance
Under fire conditions, the ratio of the temperature difference across the protective layer of the fire resistive coating for steel structures per unit area to the heat passing through per unit time.
3.5
equivalent thermal conductivity
Under fire conditions, the ratio of the heat passing through the protective layer of non-intumescent fire resistive coating for steel structures per unit area per unit time to the temperature gradient across the protective layer.
4 Classification, codes and marking
4.1 Classification and codes

4.1.2 By place of use:
— Indoor fire resistive coating for steel structures, used for the surface of steel structures indoors in buildings or in concealed works, code N;

4.1.4 By fire protection mechanism:
— Intumescent fire resistive coating for steel structures, where the coating intumesces and foams at high temperature to form a fire-resistant and heat-insulating protective layer, code P;
