GB/T 17651.2 Measurement of smoke density of cables or optical fiber cables burning under defined conditions - Part 2: Test procedure and requirements
GB/T 18380.32-2022 Tests on electric and optical fibre cables under fire conditions - Part 32 : Test for vertical flame spread of vertically-mounted bunched wires or cables - Category A F/R
3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
fireproof coating for electric cable
fireproof coating applied on the surface of electric cable with rubber, polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, cross-linked polyethylene or other materials as insulation and sheath, which is fireproof and flame retardant
3.2
smoke density
minimum light transmittance of the smoke generated by the fireproof coating for electric cable measured by a photometric device under the specified test conditions
4 Classification and coding
4.1 Classification
Fireproof coatings for electric cable are classified into the following categories according to the dispersion medium:
a) Water‑based cable fireproof coating: cable fireproof coating using water as the dispersion medium;
b) Solvent‑based cable fireproof coating: cable fireproof coating using organic solvent as the dispersion medium;
c) Other categories: fireproof coatings for electric cable other than water‑based and solvent‑based ones
4.2 Coding
The product code for fireproof coating for electric cable is denoted by DT. The dispersion medium characteristic codes for fireproof coating for electric cable are S, R and Q, representing water‑based, solvent‑based and other categories respectively. The coding method for fireproof coating for electric cable is as follows:
Example: DT‑S‑HY1, indicating a water‑based fireproof coating for electric cable with the enterprise‑defined code HY1.
5 General requirements
5.1 Fireproof coating for electric cable shall be capable of being blended and diluted with water or an organic solvent.
5.2 Fireproof coating for electric cable shall be applied by spraying, brushing or roller coating, or the combination of them, and shall be capable of drying and curing under normal natural environmental conditions. The coating surface shall be free from irregularities on its surface. The coating shall be free of irritating odor after hard dry.
