1 Scope
This standard specifies the basic requirements and development method of the instructions for use of industrial products (hereinafter referred to as “instructions for use”).
This standard is applicable to developing the instructions for use of non-consumption industrial products.
This standard is also applicable to other formats of instructions for use.
Note: The development of the instructions for use of consumer goods shall be carried out according to GB 5296.1-1997 "General Principles for the Preparation of Instructions for Use of Products of Consumer Interest”
2 Normative References
The articles and items in the following documents become parts of this standard after passing this standard quotation. For all those dated reference, the subsequent amendments (excluding content of corrigenda), or revisions are not applicable to this standard. However, parties to agreements based on this standard are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent edition of the normative document. For undated references, their latest edition is not applicable to this standard

3 Basic Requirements
3.1 The instructions for use are the compulsory part of the delivered products.
3.2 Instructions for use shall be clear and accurate in content and also shall be easy to read and comprehend; in addition, it shall not be used to cover the design defects.
3.3 Instructions for use shall clearly define the product functions and application scope, provide the main structure, performances, types, specifications, and the accurate hoisting, installing, applying, operating, maintaining, preserving and storing methods, as well as the safety measures to protect the operators and the products. Please see Appendix A for detailed information. If necessary, the installation and maintenance instructions may also be provided.
3.4 The instructions for use shall provide the necessary information on environment protection and energy conservation.
3.5 For such products as are inflammable, explosive, toxic, corrosiveness, and radioactive, the Instructions for use shall include precautions, precautionary measures and the emergency treatment solutions in case of accidents
3.6 While the product structure or performance is changed, the corresponding related contents specified in the instructions for use shall be amended according to the required procedures. The manufacturer (adopting with the concept in "Product Quality Law ") shall provide the user with the corresponding instructions for use of products.
3.7 The instructions for use may be prepared according to the product type, product line, or complete set of products. When prepared in series or whole set of products, the difference between the contents and the parameters must be highlighted.
Complex product and complete set of equipment may be respectively developed with instructions for use in accordance with the function unit and complete appliance, and these specific instructions for use shall be integrated into the systematic instructions for use according to the product type or function. When necessary, complete set of file list may be provided.
The instructions for use shall clear specify the product on its mode, type or variety. The instructions for use provided to the users shall not be inconsistent with the practical products caused by the confusions between one type and its renovated type, or between two different types (no matter how little this difference is), or between the different specifications under one type.
3.8 As for such raw material products as metallurgy, minerals, building material, chemical industry and so on as well as the combined component products with the engine plant, if their technical document such as products brochure can satisfy the demands of users, then they can replace the instructions for use.
3.9 As for those products with the safety requirements or valid time limit, the production date and validity of the products shall be offered.
3.10 The publication date or version of the instructions for use shall be provided.
3.11 The technical statements on one product shall be in consistent with each other in the instructions for use and other information provided for the users (such as advertisement or package).
3.12 If necessary, such item as "please read the Instructions for use before using the product" may be indicated at the prominent position of the package or the cover of the instructions for use.
3.13 Those products under administration of production license, the number of valid production license shall be indicated on the package.
