1 General Provisions
1.0.1 This standard is established with a view to determining the classification seismic design and fortification classification as well as corresponding seismic fortification criterion for the building and special structures in petrochemical industry and effectively reducing the seismic hazard according to the characteristics in petrochemical industry.
1.0.2 This standard is applicable to the seismic fortification category for buildings or structures of petrochemical industry project for construction, reconstruction and extension with the petroleum, natural gas as the raw materials in the area with seismic fortification intensity to be magnitude 6~9.
1.0.3 The seismic fortification category for structures of the building and special structures in petrochemical industry shall not only be in accordance with those specified in this standard, but also shall comply with those in the current relevant ones of the nation.

2.0.1 Seismic fortification category for structures
It refers to the classification of seismic protection and fortification for all sorts of buildings and special structures according to the possible casualties, direct and indirect economic loss, social influence degree and the action during seismic resistance and disaster relief for the building and special structure after suffering seismic damage.
2.0.2 Seismic fortification intensity
It generally refers to the approved seismic intensity as the reference of protection and fortification according to the specified authority. Generally, it is determined according to the seismic intensity exceeding the probability of 10% within 50 years.
2.0.3 Seismic fortification criterion
It refers to the criteria for measuring the protection and fortification requirements. And it is determined according to the design parameters of ground motion and the significance of application function of the building and special structure.
2.0.4 Seismic fortification measures
The seismic design content, except seismic action calculation, resistance force calculation, includes details of seismic design.
2.0.5 Details of seismic design
It refers to the technical measures taken for the structural and nonstructural details which are generally not need calculation according to the conceptual seismic design principles.
