1 General provisions 1.0.1 This code is formulated with view to meeting the needs of the construction and development of elderly facilities in China, improving the design quality of elderly facilities, and adapting the elderly facilities to the physical changes and behavioral characteristics of the elderly. 1.0.2 This code is applicable to the design of constructed, renovated and extended buildings of elderly facilities, such as nursing home for the aged, home for the aged and day care center for the aged. 1.0.3 The buildings of elderly facilities shall be designed based on classification and grade in accordance with the principle of people orientation, safety, health, application and economy and with the concept of respecting and caring for the elderly. 1.0.4 In addition to this code, the design of buildings of elderly facilities shall also meet the requirements of the current relevant standards of the nation.   2 Terms 2.0.1 elderly facilities a general term for buildings that provide special or comprehensive services in housing, life care, health care, culture, entertainment, etc. for the elderly, including nursing home for the aged, home for the aged and day care center for the aged 2.0.2 nursing home for the aged a professional care institution that provides services in life care, health care, rehabilitation, entertainment, social work, etc. to device-helping and under nursing aged people 2.0.3 home for the aged a care institution that provides comprehensive services in life care, medical care, culture, entertainment, etc. for self-helping, device-helping and under nursing aged people, including the elderly division of social welfare homes, geracomium, etc. 2.0.4 day care center for the aged facilities for day services in meal supply, personal care, health care, rehabilitation, entertainment and shuttle for the aged people who are not fully self-care and who require being taken care of their everyday lives 2.0.5 nursing unit a relatively independent service subarea that is defined for ensuring nursing functions and quality 2.0.6 living room for family members rooms for the aged people living in and their relatives who come to visit to live together for a short while 2.0.7 self-helping aged people the aged people who can perform life behaviors independently, and take care of themselves basically 2.0.8 device-helping aged people the aged people whose life behaviors depend on the aid from others and by helping facilities, mainly referring to the semi-disabled aged 2.0.9 under nursing aged people the aged people whose life behaviors depend on the care of others, mainly referring to the demented and disabled aged people   3 Basic requirements 3.0.1 The service objects and basic supporting service contents of various types of elderly facilities shall meet those specified in Table 3.0.1. Among them, the site shall include roads, green spaces and outdoor activity spaces and parking lots; auxiliary facilities shall include those for power supply, heating, water supply and drainage, sewage treatment, garbage and sewage collection.
