1 General Provisions
1.0.1 This code was formulated with a view to creating a accessibility environment in cities, improving life quality of people and ensuring people in needs to safely and conveniently use facilities.
1.0.2 This code is applicable to constructed, renovated and extended urban road, urban square, urban green space, residential district, residential building and historic building throughout the country. Those urban road, urban square, urban green space, building or design with accessibility needs, not involved in this code should be implemented according to requirements of similar types in this code. Accessibility for rural road and public service facility should be implemented according to this code.
1.0.3 Accessibility design for relevant railway, aviation, urban rail transit and water transportation facility shall meet the requirements of this code and those for relevant accessibility design in relevant industry.
1.0.4 During the implementation of this code, urban accessibility design still shall comply with relevant principles and policies of China and meet overall urban development requirements so as to achieve safety and usability, advanced technology and economic rationality.
1.0.5 Urban accessibility design shall not only meet those specified in this code, but also those specified in current relevant national standard.
2 Terms
2.0.1 Curb ramp
It is a kind of ramp located at sidewalk intersection or on both ends of crosswalk to avoid sidewalk curb from causing traffic obstacles and make pedestrian conveniently accessible to sidewalk.
2.0.2 Tactile ground surface indicator
It is a kind of solid floor tile paved on sidewalk or at other locations to render people with visual disability a tactile sense and guide people with visual disability to go ahead and distinguish direction so as to arrive at path of destination.
2.0.3 Directional indicator
It is a tactile ground surface indicator with strip surface that guides people with visual disability directly go ahead through tactile cane and foot sense.
2.0.4 Warning indicator
It refers to tactile ground surface indicator with dot-like surface, which is used at starting point, corner, end point of tactile ground surface indicator to indicate positions of service facilities and warn people with visual disability of unsafe or dangerous conditions ahead and serves as a warning role.
2.0.5 Accessible entrance
It refers to entrance whose gradient, width, height, ground material and handrail are convenient for people with movement disorder to pass through.
2.0.6 Ramp entrance
It refers to entrance not equipped with handrail, with its ground gradient no less than 1: 20.
2.0.7 Wheelchair turning space
It refers to space arranged to make people riding a wheelchair convenient to change direction through turning.
2.0.8 Wheelchair ramp
It refers to ramp whose gradient, width, height, ground material and handrail are convenient for people riding a wheelchair to pass through.
