1 Subject Content and Application Scope
This standard specifies the terms and definitions of general radioactive rays, X-ray equipment, medical X-ray techniques, protection against X-ray and X-ray measuring instruments.
This standard is applicable to medical X-ray equipment, and may be used to formulate and revise X-ray equipment and instrument standards as well as provide reference to professional personnel engaged in radiological research, production and clinical diagnosis.
2 General Radioactive Rays
2.1 Radiation
2.1.1 Ionizing radiation
Radiation consisting of direct or indirectly ionizing particles or a mixture of both, usually excluding ultraviolet radiation.
2.1.2 Brems strahlung
X radiation produced by the deceleration or the acceleration of charged particles, upon passage through the electric field of nuclei or other charged particles.
2.1.3 Primary radiation
Ionizing radiation emitted directly by the target or by a radioactive source.
