This standard is developed in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This standard replaces GB/T 11182-2006 Steel wire for rubber hose reinforcement The following main changes have been made with respect to GB/T 11182-2006 (the previous edition):
——The flat steel wire and its performance index are added; round steel wires with specifications of 0.28 mm, 0.295 mm, 0.380 mm and 0.45 mm and their performance indexes are added; specifications of 0.42 mm and 0.46 mm and their performance indexes are eliminated;
——The terms and definitions (clause 3), classification (clause 4) and mark (clause 5) are added;
——The nominal diameter or specification, shape deviation and permissible deviation (clause 7) are listed separately;
——The performance indexes such as tensile strength, kink intensity rate, bend and torsion are revised;
——The strength grade has been redefined, e.g. ST has been revised to NT and SHT to ST; the strength grade of steel wire with a diameter of 1.0 mm and above has been increased; strength grade are classified into low strength (LT), normal strength (NT), high strength (HT) and super-high strength (ST);
——The coating quality is improved, with upper and lower limits added; and the coating thickness is added (for reference);
——The welding requirements for finished steel wires are revised, finished steel wires not allowed to be welded;
——The inspection and acceptance organizations are added; and the requirement that there be arrow for wire loosing on the surface of I-shaped wheel for finished product is added;
——Annexes A and B in Edition 2006 are canceled;
——Annex A is added.
This standard is redrafted by reference to but is not equivalent to IS0 23717: 2006 Steel wire and wire products - Hose reinforcement wire.
This standard was proposed by China Iron and Steel Association.
This standard is under the jurisdiction of SAC/TC 183 National Technical Committee on Iron and Steel of Standardization Administration of China.
The previous editions of this standard are as follows:
——GB/T 11182-1989 and GB/T 11182-2006.
Steel wire for rubber hose reinforcement
1 Scope
This standard specifies the terms and definitions, mark method, order content, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules as well as packaging, marking, transport, storage and quality certification of steel wire for rubber hose reinforcement.
This standard is applicable to brass coated steel wire for rubber hose reinforcement (hereinafter referred to as steel wire); the nominal diameter of round steel wire is 0.20 mm~2.40 mm, and the width×thickness of flat steel wire is (0.30 mm~0.81 mm)×(0.18 mm~0.55 mm).

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 341 and the following apply.
3.1
coil
a circle of steel wire on a spool of steel wire, i.e. a complete circle of steel wire
3.2
cast
geometry of a coil of steel wire cut from the spool (features including diameter of free ring and tip rise)
3.3
flat steel wire
steel wires whose four sides of the cross section are straight or whose two sides are straight opposite each other and other two sides are curved (see Figure 1 or Figure 2)
3.4
diameter of free ring
outer diameter of a coil of steel wire in a natural loop on a smooth surface under no tension
3.5
tip rise
vertical height from the cut end of the steel wire to the surface when a coil of steel wire is on a smooth surface under no tension
4 Classification
4.1 The steel wire shall be classified by cross section into two categories which together with the codes are as follows:
a) round steel wire R;
b) flat steel wire F.
4.2 The steel wire shall be classified by strength grade into four categories which together with the codes are as follows:
a) low strength grade LT;
b) normal strength grade NT;
c) high strength grade HT;
d) super-high strength grade ST.
5 Mark method
Round steel wire shall be marked as follows: Rd
where:
d——the nominal diameter, mm.
Example:
R0.3 refers to a round steel wire with diameter of 0.3 mm.
The sectional view of flat steel wire is shown in Figures 1 and 2.
