Metallic materials - Wire Part 1: Simple torsion test
1 Scope
This document specifies a method for determining the ability of metallic wire of diameter or characteristic dimension from 0.1 mm to 14 mm to undergo plastic deformation during simple torsion in one direction.
The unidirectional torsion test for metal wire products of other specifications may be performed with reference to this document after consultation between the parties concerned.

4 Symbols and designations
The symbols and designations used in the simple torsion test of round wire and shaped wire are shown in Figure 1 and Figure 2, respectively, and listed in Table 1.

5 Test principle
The test consists of twisting a test piece of wire around its own axis in one direction, so that the specimen is twisted to a specified number of times or the specimen breaks.
