1 Scope
This document specifies the measurement parameters, test conditions, test methods and test records of starting performance for motor vehicle.
This document is applicable to motor vehicles of Categories M and N.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 15089 and GB/T 19596 and the following apply.
3.1
cranking time
time from the starter on to the engine speed reaching the idle speed specified by the manufacturer, under the condition of successful starting of motor vehicle engine
3.2
starting performance
maneuverability of the motor vehicle which is characterized by its starting time, start driving and other performances, after standing in an environment with a certain temperature and atmospheric pressure as required
3.3
starting time
total time from the cold starting of the motor vehicle to the completion of warm-up and start

5 Test conditions
5.1 Test vehicle
5.1.1 The test vehicle shall be prepared according to the requirements of 3.2, 3.5, 4.1 and 4.2 in GB/T 12534-1990.
5.1.2 Under different environmental conditions, the corresponding brands of fuel, engine oil, transmission oil, power steering oil, transfer case oil, clutch oil, coolant, brake fluid, etc. shall be selected according to the motor vehicle operation instructions or relevant technical data.
5.1.3 For starting under different environmental conditions, auxiliary starting devices (fuel evaporator, filling primer fluid device, glow plug and heater, etc.) and heat insulation devices (engine heat insulation cover, radiator heat insulation device and battery heat insulation box, etc.) may be used according to the regulations of motor vehicle manufacturers. However, the starting accessory shall be the standard configuration of the motor vehicle manufacturer, and the configuration other than that specified by the manufacturer shall not be used. During the test, the auxiliary starting device and heat insulation device shall be operated according to the operating instructions.
5.1.4 Battery, starting cable and earthed cable specified by the motor vehicle manufacturer shall be used. Each line shall be connected reliably and the battery shall work well. Before the vehicle starts to stand still, the electric quantity and voltage of the storage battery or power battery of the vehicle shall be within the range specified by the motor vehicle manufacturer.
5.1.5 The parking brake of the test vehicles shall be released.

3 Terms and definitions

5 Test conditions
5.1 Test vehicle
5.1.1 The test vehicle shall be prepared according to the requirements of 3.2, 3.5, 4.1 and 4.2 in GB/T 12534-1990.
5.1.2 Under different environmental conditions, the corresponding brands of fuel, engine oil, transmission oil, power steering oil, transfer case oil, clutch oil, coolant, brake fluid, etc. shall be selected according to the motor vehicle operation instructions or relevant technical data.
5.1.3 For starting under different environmental conditions, auxiliary starting devices (fuel evaporator, filling primer fluid device, glow plug and heater, etc.) and heat insulation devices (engine heat insulation cover, radiator heat insulation device and battery heat insulation box, etc.) may be used according to the regulations of motor vehicle manufacturers. However, the starting accessory shall be the standard configuration of the motor vehicle manufacturer, and the configuration other than that specified by the manufacturer shall not be used. During the test, the auxiliary starting device and heat insulation device shall be operated according to the operating instructions.
5.1.4 Battery, starting cable and earthed cable specified by the motor vehicle manufacturer shall be used. Each line shall be connected reliably and the battery shall work well. Before the vehicle starts to stand still, the electric quantity and voltage of the storage battery or power battery of the vehicle shall be within the range specified by the motor vehicle manufacturer.
5.1.5 The parking brake of the test vehicles shall be released.
