3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 5611 apply.
4 Alloy designation and code
4.1 Representation of alloy designation
The designation of die casting aluminum alloys is composed of the chemical symbols of aluminum and main alloying elements. The main alloying element is followed by a number indicating its nominal mass fraction, which is the round-off integer of this element's average mass fraction.
The letters "YZ" ["Y" and "Z" are respectively the first letters of Chinese phonetic alphabets "Ya" and "Zhu" (die casting)] added before the alloy designation indicates that it is a die casting one.
4.2 Representation of alloy code
For an alloy code, "YL" ["Y" and "Z" are respectively the first letters of Chinese phonetic alphabets "Ya" and "Zhu" (die casting)] represent die casting aluminum alloys, and the first numbers after "YL" are 1, 2, 3, and 4 respectively represent Al-Si, AI-Cu, AI-Mg, and AI-Zn series alloys, representing the code of the alloy. The second and third numbers after "YL" are sequence numbers.
