GB 474-1996 Preparation of coal sample
GB 475-1996 Sampling for commercial coal
GB 5751-1986 Classification of Chinese coals
3 Classification
Gas coal, 1/3 coking coal, gas-fat coal, fatty coal, coking coal, and lean coal are determined according to those specified in GB 5751.
4 Technical requirements and determination
4.1 The technical requirements and determination of the product shall be in accordance with those specified in Table 1.
Table 1 Technical requirements and determination of the product
Item Technical requirements Determination
Ash content (Ad), % Grade 1: 5.01~5.50
Grade 2: 5.51~6.00

Grade 3: 10.1~12.01)2) GB/T 211
1) It shall be subject to negotiation by both parties for the coal that fails to meet the requirements in Table 1 regarding ash content, total sulfur and total moisture.
2) In the northeast, northwest and north China, the total moisture (Mt) shall be ≤10.0% in winter for coal preparation plants with fire-drying equipment. Winter generally refers to the period from Nov. 15th to Mar. 15th. Under special circumstances, such period may be shortened or extended depending on the antifreeze demand, as otherwise agreed by the supplier and the demander.
4.2 The coal preparation plants shall not mix coals of different designations in dressing and delivery. In special cases, for example, if separate packaging and transport is not available in the mine, clean coal washed in a mixed manner may be supplied if agreed by the user.
4.3 Measures must be taken to mix well the flotation clean coal with the gravity-washed clean coal to facilitate transport and freeze protection.
4.4 In the winter, antifreeze and thawing measures shall be taken as necessary if the moisture content Mt exceeds 10% in the clean coal used in severe cold areas (northeast, northwest, and north China) or the clean coal produced by coal preparation plants located in severe cold areas.
5 Quality inspection and acceptance
5.1 Sampling and preparation
Coal samples shall be taken in accordance with the provisions of GB 475 and prepared in accordance with those of GB 474.
5.2 The quality inspection and acceptance of the product shall be conducted by the quality inspection department.
5.3 Coal loading and transport and the user acceptance shall be carried out in accordance with the provisions of the “Coal Delivery Measures” and the “Implementation Rules for Coal Delivery Measures”.
5.4 The coal delivered shall be accompanied with a quality certificate.
5.5 In case of any divergence between the supplier and the demander as to the product quality and designation, it may be settled through negotiation or subjected to arbitration by the prescribed arbitration agency
