3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
camel hair
hair fibers obtained from camels
Note: raw camel hair, scoured camel hair and dehaired camel hair are included, among which those with diameter of 40μm and below belong to hair fibers.
3.2
raw camel hair
unprocessed hair fibers that are naturally shed or collected from camels
3.3
scoured camel hair
raw camel hair that meets certain quality requirements after being scoured
3.4
dehaired camel hair
camel hair from which a large amount of course hair and foreign matters have been removed after washing and industrial dehairing
3.5
coarse camel hair
fibers in camel hair with a diameter exceeding 40μm
3.6
heterotypical camel hair
fibers in camel hair with a diameter of 40μm or less at one end and 40μm or more at the other end
Note: any fiber with one end having a diameter of 40μm or less and a length of more than one-half of the total length of the fiber is recorded as hair (fiber).
3.7
mane on upper legs, neck-to-chin and shoulders
coarse long hair fibers collected from upper legs, neck-to-chin and shoulders of camels
3.8
coarse camel hair content
percentage of fibers with a diameter greater than 40μm in dehaired camel hair (including any heterotypical fiber with a diameter greater than 40μm at one end and a length exceeding half of the total length of the fiber) to the total mass
3.9
foreign content
percentage of dander, soil and sand, plant material and other foreign matters picked out by physical method to the total mass of camel hair samples
3.10
short camel hair content
percentage of the number of hair fibers with a length of 20mm or less to the total number of fibers in the pure camel hair
3.11
yield
percentage of the conventional mass of scoured raw camel hair to the mass of the raw camel hair prior to scouring
