Qualification of electrical penetration assemblies in containment structures for nuclear power plants
1 Scope
This Standard specifies the test items, test methods, test conditions and acceptance criteria for the qualification of electrical penetration assemblies in containment structures for nuclear power plants.
This Standard applies to the qualification of electrical penetration assemblies (EPAs) installed in the containment structures and used for internal and external signal transfer and electrical power transmission of the reactor building for pressurized water reactor designed and constructed in accordance with the design and construction for electrical components of nuclear islands of CPR 1000PWR NPP.
The Standard can also be used as a reference for qualification of EPAs in the containment structure of other types of reactors.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purpose of this document,the terms and definitions given in GB/T 12727-2002 and the following apply.
3.1 qualification procedure
It provides a procedure for qualified certification of certain equipment
3.2 condition test
Expose the test sample in the test environment to determine the impact of these conditions on the test sample
3.3 pre-conditioning
It refers to the treatment carried out on the test sample prior to conditioning, in order to eliminate or partially eliminate the various response of the test sample to previous experience
3.4 recovery
It refers to the treatment on the test sample after conditioning and before the final detection in order to stabilize the performance of the test sample
3.5 influence variable
It refers to a variable, outside the equipment, that may affect the operation of the equipment
3.6 feedthrough
It refers to a series of components specific to the electrical penetration assembly. It includes components obtained by assembling insulated conducting wires of various gages on mechanical parts together to achieve insulating and sealing functions
3.7 medium-voltage power electric penetration assembly
The EPA comprises a part of a three-phase power circuit of rated AC voltage of 6 kV or 10 kV
3.8 low-voltage power electric penetration assembly
The EPAs comprises a part of a three-phase power circuit of rated voltage less than or equal to 1,000 V
3.9 low-voltage control electric penetration assembly
The EPA comprises a part of a control circuit of rated AC (or DC) voltage less than 1,000 V
3.10 instrumentation electric penetration assembly
The EPA is used on electrical circuits of instrumentation, including those used for connecting thermocouples
3.11 coaxial electric penetration assembly
It refers to EPA comprised of coaxial or triaxial conductors
3.12 overload capability
It refers to the limit current allowed to pass any 1/3 of the conducting wires (the fractional number does not apply when there are less than 3 wires) in a normal environment not exceeding the temperature limit given in 10.7
4 Technical specification manual
This chapter describes the terms that should be explained in the technical specification manual for equipment qualification, including equipment identification, functional and performance requirements, equipment power requirements and design environmental conditions, as well as the impact of changes in power and environmental conditions on the functional properties of the equipment.
Technical specification manual of the EPA shall at least include:
a) Required range;
b) Regulations, standards and guidelines provided for manufacturers and users;
c) Safety classification;
d) Operational and environmental conditions;
e) Life cycle for installation;
f) Interface conditions for installation;
g) Detailed explanation of its design and structure;
h) Design qualification;
i) Non-standard product testing;
j) Drawings, documents, data and information to be provided by the supplier;
k) Inspection, quality assurance and quality control requirements;
l) Packaging, transportation, handling and storage requirements;
m) List of EPAs categorized by functions and by ratings;
n) Seismic requirements of the EPA.
5 Qualification methods
For equipment qualification, evidences obtained through the analysis method, test method (mainly refers to type test), operational experience method, or combined methods (a combination of analysis, tests and operational experience) can be used to prove the equipment can meet its specified accuracy and performance requirements under specified operational and environmental conditions.
This Standard describes the qualification of EPAs through test methods.
6 Qualification test program and procedure
6.1 Outline
Qualification test program and qualification test procedure shall be prepared to performing equipment qualification test. Preparation of qualification test program and procedure shall be based on relevant standards, technical specifications, identification documents and reference documents of the equipment.
6.2 Qualification test program
Qualification test program, which serves as an outline for performing equipment qualification tests, shall be in coordination with the technical specification manual of the equipment. It shall explain in detail the various tests to be carried out and establish the connection between the test results and the technical specifications to provide evidence to prove the test methods used are appropriate. The qualification test program shall include:
a) A description of the equipment to be tested;
b) Number and identification of sample equipment to be tested;
c) Installation, connections and other interface requirements;
d) Simulated aging procedure;
e) Simulated operating conditions and environmental conditions;
f) Environment variables and equipment performance to be measured and their acceptance criteria;
g) Requirements on the test instrumentation, including accuracy;
h) Maintenance and replacement allowed during the qualification tests;
i) Performance limits and fault definition;
j) Documentation requirement of test data;
k) Description of any non-applicable part in the technical specifications;
l) Sequence of qualification test items;
m) Note on any special situations not mentioned above, but may have affected the equipment during the tests.
6.3 Qualification test procedure
Qualification test procedure shall be prepared in accordance with the relevant provisions in Article 5.4.2 of GB/T 12727-2002 and Chapters 5, 6, and 8 of EJ/T 1197-2007 to specify and explain the qualification test items, test conditions, testing methods, operating and testing steps, and acceptance criteria.
Qualification procedure of EPAs shall include the following four types of tests:
a) Baseline tests;
b) Tests under limit operation conditions
c) Test to evaluate changes in equipment performance over time;
d) Tests under environmental conditions during and after accident.
6.3.1 Baseline tests
Baseline tests include:
--Equipment electrical performance test;
--Measurement and test of equipment functional properties.
The baseline test results will serve as a reference for comparison with the equipment performance in subsequent tests.
6.3.2 Tests under limit operation conditions
The test under limit operation condition for inspecting functional properties of the equipment within the rated range of the influencing variables as well as under limits of the influencing variables, which include:

1 Scope
This Standard specifies the test items, test methods, test conditions and acceptance criteria for the qualification of electrical penetration assemblies in containment structures for nuclear power plants.

3 Terms and definitions
