Pharmaceutical machinery - General requirements for electrical safety
1 Scope
This standard specifies the terms and definitions, power source and environment, electric shock protection, insulation protection, protective circuit, control devices, electrical safety protection in atmospheres with explosive media, electrical requirements in atmospheres with biosafety requirements, wiring, rated input power, electrical marking and technical documents involved in the general requirements for electrical safety of pharmaceutical machinery.
This standard is applicable to the electrical safety of pharmaceutical machinery (equipment) (hereinafter referred to as the equipment).

For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.

pharmaceutical machinery
production equipment to complete and assist in the completion of pharmaceutical process

rated (value)
quantity value assigned, generally by a manufacturer, to a specified operating condition of a component, device or equipment

3.3
mains
low-voltage electricity supply system to which the equipment concerned is designed to be connected for the purpose of powering the equipment
Note: Some measuring circuits may also be connected to the mains for measuring purposes.

normal condition
condition in which all means for protection against hazards are intact

single fault condition
