1 Scope
This standard specifies the safety signs and guidelines for their installation and use.
This standard is applicable to the public places, industrial enterprises, construction sites and other sites where are necessary to remind people to notice safety.

3 Terms and Definitions
The following terms and definitions are applicable to this standard.
3.1
Safety sign
Signs used for indicating specific safety information, which is composed of graphic symbol, safety colour, geometric shape (frame) and characters.
3.2
Safety colour
Colour used for transmitting the meanings of safety information, including four colours as red, blue, yellow and green
3.3
Prohibition sign
Graphical sign for prohibiting the unsafe acts of people
3.4
Warning sign
Graphical sign used for reminding people to notice the surrounding environment so as to avoid possible risks
3.5
Direction sign
Graphical sign obliging people to conduct certain action or adopt countermeasures
3.6
Information sign
Graphical sign providing people with certain information (for instance, indicating the safety facility or site)
3.7
Explanatory sign
Sign providing people with specific prompting information (indicating the safety classification or protective measures), which is composed of geometrical figure, frame and characters
3.8
Environmental information sign
Graphical sign containing such information that related to a large area. The code number of this type of signs: H
3.9
Partial information sign
Graphical sign containing such information that is only related to one certain site, or even one equipment or part. The code number of this type of signs: J
4 Types of Signs
The safety signs are classified into such main types: prohibition signs, warning signs, direction signs and information signs.
4.1 Prohibition signs
4.1.1 The fundamental mode of prohibition signs is one round frame with a slash, as is shown in Figure 1.
