本标准规定了在规定的温度和负荷条件下测定热塑性塑料熔体质量流动速率（MFR）和熔体体积流动速率（MVR）的方法。通常，测定熔体流动速率的试验条件由本标准引用的材料标准规定。热塑性塑料的一般试验条件列于附录A和附录B中。在比较填充和非填充热塑性塑料时，熔体体积流动速率是很有用的。如果知道试验温度下的熔体密度，则可以用自动测量装置测定熔体流动速率。本方法不适用于流变行为受水解、缩聚或交联影响的热塑性塑料。
