Marine internal combustion engine oils
1 Scope
This standard specifies the product variety and labeling, technical requirements and test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage of marine internal combustion engine oils prepared with refined mineral oil as base oil and various functional additives (or compounds).
This standard is applicable to internal combustion engine oils for medium and low speed marine internal combustion engines and land diesel generator sets.

3 Product variety and labeling
3.1 Product variety
The products covered by this standard include marine cylinder oils, marine system oils and marine medium-speed trunk-piston diesel engine oils, which are classified into different designations according to GB/T 14906 and base number grade:
Marine cylinder oils are classified into five designations: 5025, 5040, 5070, 5080 and 50100.
Marine system oils are classified into four designations: 3005, 3008, 4005 and 4008.
Marine medium-speed trunk-piston diesel engine oils are classified into 12 designations: 3012, 3015, 3020, 3030, 3040, 3050, 4012, 4015, 4020, 4030, 4040 and 4050.
For the designations above, the first two digits represent the viscosity grade and the latter digits represent the base number grade of the product.
Note: See Annex A for the correspondence between the base number of marine internal combustion engine oil and the sulfur content of adopted fuel oil.
3.2 Product labeling
The marine internal combustion engine oil is labeled as:

4 Technical requirements and test methods
