The following terms and definitions apply to this document.

Valuable elements in coal
Elements that have a high economic value and are enriched in coal to a high degree, at or near industrial grade, and have the potential to be developed as an industrial deposit or for comprehensive use.

4 Classification and utilisation of valuable elements in coal
4.1 Classification of valuable elements (aluminium, gallium, germanium, lithium, etc.) in coal
The content of aluminium in coal shall be classified in accordance with Appendix A, the content of gallium in coal shall be classified in accordance with Appendix B, the content of germanium in coal shall be classified in accordance with Appendix C, and the content of valuable elements in coal shall be classified in accordance with Appendix B.
The content of gallium in coal shall be classified in accordance with Appendix B, the content of germanium in coal shall be classified in accordance with Appendix C and the content of lithium in coal shall be classified in accordance with Appendix D.
4.2 Comprehensive utilization of coal with very high valued elements (aluminium, gallium, germanium, lithium, etc.)
4.2.1 The utilization of coal with extra high valuable elements (aluminium, gallium, germanium, lithium, etc.) shall take into full consideration the basic process nature of the coal, its main use, the assignment form of aluminium, gallium, germanium, lithium and other elements in the coal, the symbiotic relationship with other elements, as well as the assignment state and distribution law of harmful elements in the coal that have adverse effects on the extraction of valuable elements.
4.2.2 Full consideration shall be given to the thickness, yield, size and configuration of the coal seam and other technical conditions of mining, as well as the influence of mining and processing methods on the quality of the coal.
4.3 Taking, preparation and determination of coal samples
4.3.1 Collection of coal samples
Coal samples shall be taken in accordance with GB/T 475, GB/T 482, GB/T 19494.1 and MT/T 1034.
4.3.2 Preparation of coal samples
Coal samples are prepared in accordance with the provisions of GB/T 474, GB/T 19494.2.
4.3.3 Determination of the content of valuable elements in coal
The determination of aluminium content in coal shall be carried out in accordance with GB/T 1574, the determination of gallium content in coal shall be carried out in accordance with GB/T 8208, the determination of germanium content in coal shall be carried out in accordance with GB/T 8207.
The determination of the content of lithium in coal shall be carried out in accordance with GB/T 14506.15.
